the half drawn curtain moved...

A Perfect Day

The half drawn curtain moved, it was a rude awakening. Such a pleasant dream was wiped from my mind. It had been a long night and I wished I could have slept more. I realized what today was, I was instantly awake, how could I forget! It was my golden birthday. I dressed fast as I could and leaped down stairs expecting a surprise. The lights were off.. No one was up, my happiness didn’t fade though, it was going to be a good day My perfect day would not be ruined that easily. I stepped out side to examine the day. It was breath taking, the sun shinning barely up over a hill, a blue sky with the occasional cloud, birds singing and a soft cool breeze to perfect it. I couldn’t help but grin now that I was 16. I herd a giggle that frightened me, I flipped around to see my parents had been sitting there waiting the entire time. The cool breeze blew against me and gave a little nudge to go to them, she revealed my favorite breakfast under a sheet that had been draped over it. Mmm biscuits and gravy, an aroma took over me and I could not control it. I ate so fast I don’t think I even tasted it. My parents sat there and laughed still not saying a word. Till my father stood up, he walked around holding a dark rag. He blind folded me! Oh family traditions. They picked me up and spun me around leading me around, where was I going? They took me around to the front I could tell. Then I was put in car where were we going? The blind fold was removed! And I was in the driver seat key in the ignition! I smiled bigger than ever before, words had escaped me. So excited this was way more than I could ever ask for. My mom reached across and started it for me. I smiled, she nodded I backed out and was on my way, to where I did not know but it was somewhere, and today, had already become perfect.

  1. What a delicious day-- I am sure the dream couldn't have lived up to the reality! Good details. The family's love comes through the actions and surprises.

  2. It would have been better if i could have added more detail and actually completed it. Right now its just shortened into a supershort story with the main details.
